Eldritch Abominations are indescribable, incomprehensible and inthinkable beings for mortals who often go crazy or die at the sight of such a creature. Eldritch abominations are usually not evil in the traditional sense, but are indifferent to the world.
The concept of eldritch abominations was coined by the American horror author Howard Phillips Lovecraft (August 20, 1890 – March 15, 1937) with his Cthulhu Mythos, although authors such as Edgar Allan Poe, Ambrose Bierce, and Robert W. Chambers were already experimenting with these similar themes.
Later, eldritch abominations was greatly expanded upon by countless illustrators, from writers to film directors and video game designers.
