The cat from outer space 1978 alien in space ship

In the 1978 film The Cat from Outer Space we find a species of Cat like aliens far more advanced then Humanity and from another galaxy entirely. At least one of them (Zunar-J-5/9 Doric-4-7 aka Jake) is curious about terrestrial cats. The Cats from Outer Space have telepathic and telekinetic powers amplified by special collars. They use this telepathy for communication among themselves and with other species. Their encounter with Earth is brief in the film. They came to recover one of their own (Jake) only for him to decide to stay behind, and themselves (aboard The Mothership) state that they'll return in 115 years. Jake applies for and becomes a citizen of the United States of America and works as a representative of an off world 'friendly power' though such appointment was not the idea of his people but rather Humans themselves; as such he doesn't operate in an official capacity but has embraced the role.

Society[]

This extra-galactic species of feline appear to utilize a code system to define individuals. This suggests an impersonal society with a focus on the betterment of the state.

Technology[]

The Cats from Outer Space utilize flying saucers and have devices capable of amplifying telepathic and telekinetic abilities. Devices of which only one Human has managed to make use of. They use gold freely in their electronics as it's abundant and known to them as Org 12. According to Jake the Cats didn't develop agriculture (being as felines are hunters) nor did they start to walk on two legs and manipulate tools with their hands. Instead tools amplify the mind and it's with the mind they build things.

Notes[]

  • The species has some similarities to the Sirius Dogs from the 2003 film Good Boy!. These similarities include a code system to define individuals (though the Cats have a far more advanced coding system), and the use of flying saucers. They may have more in common if the proposed theory that terrestrial cats are decedents of ancient colonists is true. Though of the two species the Cats are far more advanced.
