The Calots are a medium sized non-sapient species native to the planet Mars (a.k.a. Barsoom), and commonly domesticated by the Green Barsoomians. They are famous for achieving disproportionally high speeds for their low-ground anatomy; and for being intelligent and extremely loyal to their masters.
Physically, a Calot is a stocky reptilianoid beast with a wide mouth, small eyes and five pairs of short legs. Like all Barsoomian lifeforms, they have to be strong and ferocious to survive, and are commonly employed by the Barsoomians as guard animals or used in gladiatorial combats.

- A Calot also appears in the The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy episode "Billy and Mandy vs. the Martians", and bears close resemblance to the original beast in both appearance and behaviour.
