Blobbulons are a sapient species native to Blobbulus, which is part of a double planet with the Cerebellians' homeworld, Cerebellia.
Blobbulons are known for their malleable bodies which shrivel when they reach adult age. As a result, Blobbulon children are larger than most humanoids, whereas adult Blobbulons are smaller.
Biology[]
Blobbulon children are known for being much larger than their parents.
Blobbulons are purple-skinned bipeds with tubular arms and legs, and a single eye located on the top of their heads. Their feet are shaped like suction cups with no toes. Their hands are radially-symmetrical, with multiple equally-spaced digits of equal size. Since their bodies are malleable, they can extend their limbs to great lengths. At some point after maturing, Blobbulons shrivel and shrink, so the adults are much smaller than their children.
Blobbulons can survive in space vacuum without any protective equipment, and have a non-centralized ectoplasmic circulatory system. Another aspect of their anatomy is that they have no spines.
Blobbulons can harmlessly remove parts of themselves. Small parts, such as fingers, will regrow overnight, whereas larger parts can be simply reattached at anytime. If a Blobbulon's head is separated from their body, both the head and the body will continue to function independently of each other until being reattached. The headless body will remain capable of moving, seeing, hearing, reacting and taking decisions, even going against the head occasionally.
Culture and society[]
Blobbulons and Cerebellians.
Together, Blobbulus and Cerebellia make up a double-planet system, orbited by a single moon. This has unfortunately resulted in a feud between the Blobbulons and Cerebellians that perdured well after both species became integrated in the galactic community, as each claims that the shared satellite belongs to them. The Cerebellians view the moon as an object of scientific interest and have established a research station there, whereas the Blobbulons view the moon as a guardian figure whose light protects them from nocturnal bogeymen. Due to the ongoing feud, many Cerebellians view the Blobbulons as superstitious simpletons, while many Blobbulons resent the Cerebellians' intellectualism and arrogance.
The development of Blobbulon civilization has been reflected in their clothes. During their stone age, they dressed in animal skins, which were later ditched in favor of dressing in curtains. Nowadays, modern Blobbulons dress in form-fitting shirts that look like jumpsuits. The Blobbulons' national anthem consists of repeatedly shouting the words "National Anthem!" while wearing wooden pants and clubbing them with a wooden club.
