Biot-savartians (alternatively known as Biotsavartians, Biosovortians, Elecronians or Magnosapiens) are an alien species with magnetism powers from the planet Maxwell.[1]
Biology[]
Anatomy[]
Biot-savartians have large spikes on their shoulders, crab-like claws, and two toed feet. Their bodies are made of living alien metal[2] that is mostly colored black, while their chests, spikes, feet, and claws are yellow, and their head is silver and floats above their body.
Powers and abilities[]
Biot-savartians are able to project magnetic fields that are capable of overloading electrical circuits, attracting magnetic materials and ferromagnetic metals to themselves. This magnetism can affect species that are mechanical in nature such as Evolved Sonorosians and Chronosapiens.[2]
At full power, a Biot-savartian's magnetic pulse can affect machinery as far as half a mile.[3]
Biot-savartians possess superhuman strength, being able to briefly grapple with enemies with some difficulty.
Biot-savartians possess enhanced durability, allowing them to withstand laser blasts without any major damage.
Biot-savartians have telekinetic control over metal, allowing them to levitate and move it around without physical contact. They can also use this "magno-telekinesis" to make themselves levitate and fly for short distances.[3]
Biot-savartians are able to lift metal objects in the air and shoot magnetic waves as an offensive ability.
If a Biot-savartian gets destroyed by something as dangerous as an explosion, they can reconstitute by pulling their shattered pieces back together with their magnetism.
Biot-savartians possess magnetoreception, meaning that they can act like a compass.[2]
Due to their heads not being connected to their bodies, Biot-savartians can survive in the vacuum of space.[2]
Using the electromagnetic spectrum, Biot-savartians can see objects like on a radar screen.[3]
Weaknesses[]
A Biot-savartian's head is magnetically floating over their body, meaning that it can be separated from the body. This would leave the body vulnerable and unable to reconnect with the head.
Because Biot-savartians do not have necks connecting their heads with their bodies, said heads can be flipped over and spun if something were to hit them.
A Biot-savartian's magnetism is ineffective against materials that are not made from metal. They are also unable to lift certain objects that are seemingly metallic.[2]
Biot-savartians are weak against water, as it can make their bodies completely rusted.[4]
Notable members[]
- Lodestar: An Omnitrix transformation used by Ben Tennyson.
- Negative Lodestar: An alternate version of Lodestar used by Albedo, despite not appearing on-screen.
Half-qualifiers[]
- Ultimate Kevin: 17-year-old Kevin Levin of the Prime Timeline transformed into an amalgamation of every alien available in the Ultimatrix prior to traveling to the Forge of Creation, including Lodestar.
- Bioids: The Prime Timeline's Vilgax transformed his Bioid army into copies of Lodestar by linking them with the Omnitrix.

Notes[]
- The name "Biot-savartian" comes from the Biot–Savart law, an equation describing the magnetic field generated by an electric current; it was first used on-screen by Ragnarok in the Alien Force episode "Vendetta".
- For many years, this species was misspelled as "Biosavartian" due to fan misconceptions. Of course, the alternate spelling "Biosovortian" was officially used in an issue of the official Ben 10 magazine.
- The name is spelled with a hyphen in the subtitles for the episode "Vendetta" and without the hyphen in the third draft of the episode's script and the mini production bible for Ben 10: Alien Force.
- A Biot-savartian's skin pattern can change like flowing ink with shifts in the magnetic field.[3]
- Although they are from different universes, it is confirmed by Derrick J. Wyatt that Biot-savartians are unable to lift Mjolnir.
- An issue of the K-Zone magazine and the Brazilian Ben 10: Ultimate Alien Online Editora Sticker Album incorrectly refer to the Biot-savartians' homeworld as Attracta. However, the former identifies Lodestar as a Magnosapien whereas the latter states that Attracta as the homeworld of the Amperi.[5]
- However, this is inaccurate as the Ampfibian character bio included in Cartoon Network Action Pack #57 states that the Amperi's homeworld is Tesslos.
- In Ben 10 Ultimate Alien: The Complete Guide, Lodestar is identified as an Elecronian while Maxwell is incorrectly named Electront and described as a desert planet.[6]
- It is confirmed that the Omnitrix from the Ben 10 reboot contains Biot-savartian DNA.[7] Therefore, Lodestar is one of the countless aliens whose DNA pod was glimpsed in the episode "Innervasion Part 5: High Override".
