Biopods are a kind of green-colored life forms native to the planet Mars. Described as "crawling little plant-animals", they appear to be numerous enough to blanket over the Martian landscape at some points. They have been named and described by Pierre Leroy, the biologist of the Ares, which was the first successful crewed expedition to land on Mars in the twenty-first century. Their biochemistry is carbon-based and they reproduce asexually.
According to Patricia Hammond of the Gaea expedition, it appears that some kind of biopods are also present in Uranus. Assuming this isn't a case of convergent evolution, it's possible that the biopods were transported there by the ancient, spacefaring Thoth civilization.
