The BioMarines are genetically engineered species created to serve as super-soldiers for humanity.

Biology[]

BioMarines gave off the impression of two-legged lizards, covered in copper scales. They stood three meters in height and weighed over two hundred kilograms. They were capable of impressive levels of superhuman strength and speed.

Their heads were hairless, and had pointed toes and claws. BioMarines possess vertical slits and gills on their necks that allowed them to draw in more oxygen. They also had membranes under their arms which they could retract and allowed them to glide.

Overall the had human traits with other DNA mixed in by the geneticists. BioMarines could see in the dark as if it was bright and hearing that far outstripped a human. They had accelerated healing as part of the numerous upgrades their kind received.

BioMarines were created in vats and grown in test tubes. And conditioned to follow orders and be merciless killers, even to slay innocent lambs.

History[]

The development of the BioMarines was originally the brain child of a scientist named Greenspan who created the biogenetic techniques that made test-tube hybrids feasible.

Later the project was taken over by General Constantine Augusto who recognized the military applications. The general then persuaded those who controlled the purse strings at the U.N. to fund research into the creation of a hybrid unit. It was hoped by the general that the BioMarines would be at the forefront of humanity's campaign to conquer the solar system.

After two of three colonies that humanity established in Mars in a ploy by the human leaders to settle Mars under the noses of the native inhabitants were destroyed, a war of the world soon ensued between Earth and Mars.

A number of twenty-four BioMarines were deployed to Mars in General Augusto’s campaign to conquer the planet and wipe out the native Martians. While it was apparent that majority of the BioMarines were fanatically loyal to the cause of humanity to claim Mars, a BioMarine named KLL-12 questioned his creators superiority and morality of taking a world already inhabited by intelligent life. Furthermore he made it clear he resented humanity’s creation of his kind in turning them into slaves, though his viewpoints were dismissed by his brethren.

The BioMarines were deployed on a covert mission to capture an Aryghr, one of the Martian leaders. Though they sustained heavy losses, the BioMarines with the help of a human distraction team managed to extract the Martian and bring it back to Bradbury colony. There in an interrogation room, the alien would be tortured until its yield any secrets.

However that did not happen as the Martians has anticipated the general's plan to capture their leader. The Aryghr had allowed itself to be taken, so that it could be brought into the colony so it could alert the Martian armies of its location via its telepathy. An entire Martian horde attacked the colony under the cover of a dust storm they created, whilst Drillers collapsed the foundations of the colony to throw the humans in disarray. At the same time they rescued the Aryghr and captured the human general.

In the aftermath a total of only three BioMarines were left, and forced to evacuate onto the waiting dropships with the the other survivors as now humanity no longer possessed a foothold and had no choice but to flee and relinquish Mars to the rightful rulers. Despite their failure the BioMarines by chance stumbled on a Martian ploy in which hundreds of them stowed away on the dropships to reach the waiting fleet in orbit around Mars. Thanks to their effort, an invasion of Earth was halt after all the Martians were purged from the dropships.

Culture[]

Due to their military conditioning, all BioMarines adhere to the chain of command, and cannot disobey any direct order from a human superior officer. Additionally in the absence of a human Commander, BioMarines adhere to seniority of their kind, obeying orders from the eldest in the unit.

Despite BioMarines having the same bodies, aside from gender, intellects equal, they were emotionally, more expressive. Majority of the BioMarines took pride in their service to humanity, regardless to the fact that they had no choice in their conception and were slave soldier nor to the clear fact that they were unable to go against a human commanding officer.

Any subversive talk of the flaws in creation or their creators was regarded as mutinous or worse treason.
