Binary digits are a sapient information-based lifeform from an unknown extradimensional world.
Biology[]
The binary digits, true to their name, are lifeforms of living information, namely binary digits. However, they are capable of assimilating the souls of Humans into their ranks. Newly assimilated members, and presumably young binary digits, manifest instead as decimals, and grow into "fractions", before becoming proper digits.
Culture and society[]
Little is known of the society of the binary digits, only that they are the dominant lifeform on their world, and have relations with demons, buying souls of other beings to assimilate into more digits.
History[]
At some point in the past, demons opened up business relations with the binary digits, selling them the captured souls of mortals, which the digits would assimilate as decimals. What exactly they do with the assimilated souls remains unknown. In the 1980s, a demon who attempted to steal the soul of a Human college professor named Sam mused about selling Sam's soul to the binary digits, as he was amused by Sam's highly academic, almost poetic manner of speaking.
