Beastmen are a sapient species of large, mammalian humanoids from the Vine Jungle of Eternia, and are well-known for their innate ability to command and control animals.
Biology[]
Members of this species are ape-like humanoids with a strong physique, reddish-orange skin and fur covering large portions of their bodies. Their fur is bright red in young individuals and becomes more orange as they age.
They have five digits on their hands and feet, including opposeable thumbs on their hands, and their black nails are sharp like claws. They also have sharp fangs. The skin around their eyes is blue. Their ears are long and pointed.
Beastmen are powerful brutes with superhuman strength and the ability to control non-sapient animal life, and even some forms of sapient life (such as Man-E-Faces' monster form). Their diet is omnivorous, as they've been observed to eat both meat and fruits.
Notes[]
- In the original concept of the series, Beast Man, Evil-Lyn and Tri-Clops were originally human astronauts from Earth who crewed the same ship as Marlena Glenn. Instead of crashing on Eternia, however, they ended up on the planet Infinita, ruled by Skeletor and also the home of Mer-Man in this version. The dark forces of the planet then caused the astronauts to change into their current corrupted forms.
- While this backstory ended up being unused, Beast Man's origins were never revealed in the cartoon series, although his action figures' biographies confirm that there is an entire species of beastmen who control animals and hail from the Vine Jungle.
