Basalt are a rock golem species from the planet Andesite.

Biology

Anatomy

Basalt appear to be large, yellow crystalline-like rock monsters.

Powers/Abilities

The Basalt's home planet may be a dangerous place for humans, but they are very skilled at adapting to their environment.

Basalt possess superhuman strength, which is good for crushing and pummeling.

Basalt can manipulate earthquakes.

Weaknesses

Basalt are crumbersome and are neither very fast nor agile.

Water is dangerous to Basalt as over time, it erodes their body and weakens their strength. Additionally, Basalt cannot swim and will sink like a stone.

Omnitrix Transformation

The Omnitrix's Basalt representative is named Rocks, who first appeared in the live-action stage production Ben 10: Power of the Omnitrix. Derrick J. Wyatt would later confirm that Rocks has been unlocked and used off-screen during Omniverse.

Etymology

Basalt is a type of igneous rock.

Notes

  • The Basalt made their debut in the live-action stage production Ben 10: Power of the Omnitrix. Despite Dwayne McDuffie and Matt Wayne claiming that Basalt are not canon to the original Ben 10 continuity, Wyatt would eventually canonize the species.
  • Basalt share some similarities with the Mortal Kombat character Tremor, in terms of powers.
  • According to Duncan Rouleau, the Omnitrix from the Ben 10 reboot contains Basalt DNA. Therefore, Rocks is one of the countless aliens whose DNA pod was glimpsed in the episode "Innervasion Part 5: High Override".
