The Banshees are a sentient species native to Troy.
Biology[]
Banshees are weird carnivorous insectoid/plant hybrid life forms that dwell in the lands of the Baronies. They are a little known species as they are only native to the area near Castle Gold-Azure and even the locals regard them as a local legend.
Individual members of the species resemble green faeries that can camouflage themselves with the vegetation around them. While the Queens are large sized female-humanoids whose lower half sprouted from a giant lost and usually is located with the the hive's magic tree.
They normally prey on insects but are opportunistic eaters and emit a pheromone that lures trolls to them to not only feed on their flies but flesh. According to trolls the smell is similar to the smell of a mate.
Banshees are a magical species that can absorb magic in the ground of Troy. They use the magical energy to propagate by sending out new colonies of their kind that to grow a new tree for them to inhabit. When a new tree is born a new queen will grow with it, and her life will be tied to the health of the tree.
Culture[]
Normally banshees dwell in a magical giant tree near in the middle of the Stronze River far north of Castle Cold-Azure. Similar to bees or ants, the are a hive species that serve a queen who hatches eggs to create servants to act as scouts and those to defend the tree. The lilies that are around the trees that banshees dwell are part of an intricate magic system that allow Banshees of other colonies not to just communicate but also teleport from one location to another.
