The B 612 Baobabs are a species of baobab tree-like plants native to asteroid B 612, the abnormally tiny homeworld of an inquisitive young humanoid known as the little prince.
Biology[]
The B 612 Baobab trees are externally identical to the baobab trees of Earth. They grow very quickly in the soil of B 612, and can quickly uproot other plants around them, even threaten the stability of B 612 with their roots, as B 612 is only the size of a house, and too many baobabs could tear the asteroid apart.
History[]
The B 612 Baobabs constantly threatened to overrun the surface of B 612, with the little prince, a Human-like alien who inhabited B 612, spending his days uprooting them the moment he recognized them, along with other unwanted plants. When the little prince decided to leave B 612 to explore the galaxy, he uprooted what was supposedly the last of the B 612 Baobab saplings. It is unknown if any others appeared after the prince left the asteroid.
Appearances[]
- The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry (1943)
Notes[]
- The B 612 Baobab trees are believed to represent Nazism and its threat to global society, as the book was written in 1943.
- In the 2015 animated adaptation of The Little Prince, the B 612 Baobabs overran the asteroid some time after the prince left, but did not destroy it, and all died off in the time between the prince's departure and his eventual return. When the prince, who was forced to become a clumsy amnesiac adult by the Businessman, was restored to a child, the Baobabs were disintegrated as the asteroid's regular plant life returned.
