The Awoken were once of an organic race that inhabited unknown habitable world.
They had fled their doomed world after finding out their star was dying. As a non space-faring race they saw no other option but to upload their minds into a large supercomputer and hurled it out their star system. It currently unknown how long and how far they had traveled once they had bumped into a ship of a highly advance species. This species probably took pity on them and downloaded the Awoken species conscious into robotic units. Now calling themselves the Awoken, they had either left their benefactors to rebuild their civilization or stayed with them to learn more about themselves and the new opportunities around them.
