The Asogians or Children of the Green Planet are a species of puddle-footed sapients indigenous to Brodo Asogi. They are most notable for their extending necks, glowing chests and fingers, and potential Force-sensitivity. They are one of the many sapient species within their galaxy to refrain from wearing clothing.

During the final days of the Galactic Republic, Senator Grebleips, who was an Asogian, had an extragalactic expedition project funded, which likely was the one that ended up eventually landing on Earth.

Notes[]

  • The second book, entitled E.T.: The Book of the Green Planet, reveals on page 19 that the Children of the Green Planet is a translation of their species. The book then goes on to mention several other names other extraterrestrials have given their homeworld, including Brodo Asogi, Vomestra, Od-Di-Pa V, Tum Lux O-Ty, and Alata Zerka. All of these names translate to "Green Planet".
  • In promotional material for the original movie he appeared in, E.T. was stated as being "3,000,000 light years from home". Since galaxies such as our own Milky Way are only about 100,000 light years wide, he would in fact be an extragalactic being.
  • Since the nearest large galaxy is Andromeda, which is 2.5 million light years away, this would indicate that the Children of the Green Planet are in fact from this galaxy. If their appearance in Star Wars is to be considered canon, then that would not mean that the entire Star Wars galaxy is Andromeda, since E.T.'s have tendencies for intergalactic travel, and the "galaxy far, far away" would certainly not be so far away if it was Andromeda.
  • The Children of the Green Planet - better known simply as "E.T.'s Species" - appeared in a cameo in The Phantom Menace after Steven Spielberg included a cameo of Yoda and Star Wars toys in E.T. the Extra Terrestrial. Because of this, George Lucas promised to include an E.T. cameo in the next Star Wars film he made, which turned out to be (eventually) The Phantom Menace. While primarily an Easter Egg and likely not to be interpreted as canon, many Star Wars references in E.T. can now be reinterpreted to suggest that E.T. himself was a force-sensitive, if not his entire species.
  • HoloNet News Volume 531 50 mentions that Senator Grebleips of Brodo Asogi funded an expedition to another galaxy, another reference to the movie E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial.
  • The ship that appeared in E.T. looks quite similar to a Core Ship, which may mean that the Trade Federation, Techno Union, or another wealthy financial power may have been key in financing that expedition.
  • Originally another fraction of Asogians would’ve been in a cancelled sequel to E.T. Called E.T. II nocturnal fears and they would’ve been an albino carnivorous fraction from the same species and civilization that E.T. (Zrek) belonged to and the two separate groups of asogians would’ve had a decades long war
