The Antibodies, also known as the Organic Machines, are a species of large humanoid lifeforms that appear on Earth when Orphan, a gigantic alien starship that emerges from its deep slumber, is about to leave Earth. The Antibodies are born (a process known as Revival) from objects known as Organic Plate. Antibodies are armed since their birth with weapons (Sword Extension or Brain Bar) that function like a sword and energy rifle, and but are also capable of using weapons manufactured by humanity (such as missile launchers and guns). They are also able to create a "Chakra Shield" to protect themselves as well. Antibodies live off their self-generated Organic Energy and require no diet. Although, they can become tired after extended periods of activity. Certain Antibodies such as Nelly Brain are also said to use the energy of the pilot as their own. Antibodies are capable of self-regeneration, although the ability is limited to minor damage; a missing limb must be replaced by an artificial one. The Antibodies are also born with an internal "cockpit", allowing other sapient species such as Humans to control them.
There are two major sub-races among Antibodies, Gran Cher and Brain Powered. Aside from their appearance, Grand Cher have a more "stoic" personality. Most humans can board inside Grand Cher and command them like combat vehicles, although they may not respond to more emotional people. Brain Powerd, on the other hand, display more personality and won't allow one they dislike to control them. Brain Powerd will seek specific humans as their partners and usually stick with a single partner through their lives. Most Grand Cher are used by the Reclaimers, a group of humans who want to leave Earth along with Orphan. While Brain Powerd are mostly used by the Novis Noah, an opposing faction trying to prevent Orphan's departure, as it will siphon lifeforce from all beings on Earth, leaving it as dead planet.
Rarer types of Antibodies are:
- Brain Children: these are a pair of smaller Brain Powerd that revive as "twins" from a single Organic Plate.
- Nelly Brain: An incomplete evolution of Brain Powerd said to be more powerful then the average Brain Powerd. Nelly's Brain eventually goes through Revival a second time by fusing itself with Isami Yuu's Brain Powerd.
- Finally, the Baronz, an evolution of Grand Cher. Unlike other Antibodies, Baronz does not use handheld weapons, but has extendable fins on its shoulders which can be used as melee weapons or emit energy attacks. If fed with large amounts of Organic Energy, Baronz can grow into a larger form, draining the human pilot of their lifeforce in the process./
