The Anode Beetle is a species of scarab that was discovered by Captain Olimar within the caves of PNF-404.
Biology[]
These creatures slightly resemble that of Flint Beetles, having four small legs and a thick carapace on their bodies for protection against predators. They have yellow spots on their shells, and small forward-facing antennae at the front of the head. Closer studies of the legs shown nearly microscopic hairs cover their length, which is hypothesized to produce static electricity.
These creatures rely on electricity for energy along with organic glycogens. This electricity is generated through its internal battery structure, stored within a electrical field. On occasion, this electrical charge can reach critical levels, and charges of it are release out of the body as visible lightning static. If in company of more than one individual, a pair of electrified Anode Beetles can create a electrical connection between each other, harming any other creature caught within the field. Any harm onto one of the two beetles will cut off the connection instantly.
Behavior[]
Anode Beetles are almost always found in groups of up to ten individuals at a time, though there doesn't seem to be any form of hierarchy between themselves, and can be surmised as a means of group preservation rather than any pack or herd behavior.
Notes[]
- This species is stated to belong to the Scarab family, scientific known as "Scarabaeidae".
