The Ancients were a race of crystaline silicon-based lifeforms that came from a planet known simply as the Crystal planet. The Ancients visited the planet Mars long ago and these Martian Ancient ruins were explored by humanity around the year 2100 AD. Later on a research base was established on the North Pole of Mars to study said ruins.
