Anabaj are a sapient predatory species. They are telepathic and attracted to the color red, as well as to individuals with weak minds that are easily suggestible. Female Anabaj seduce victims in order to implant eggs in their throats.
Anabaj can disguise their appearance and present themselves as Human. In their real form, they have yellow eyes with vertical slit pupils, reptilian nostrils, fangs, a long blue forked tongue, and a membranous frill similar to that of a frill-necked lizard. They can cling to vertical surfaces with their bare hands and seem to be repelled by water.
