The Amphibians (a designation used by Human scientists, as the real name of this species is unknown) are a sapient extraterrestrial race of amphibious bipeds.
Biology[]
Amphibians are Human-sized, short-tailed, plantigrade bipeds, whose bodies appear humpbacked, with no neck separating the head from the torso. Their skin is covered with blue scales. They have a high orange dorsal sail, as well as orange fins on their head and limbs. Their red eyes are large, and the mouth is equipped with sharp triangular teeth. Their hands and feet are webbed and clawed. Like their name indicates, they can operate on both water and land. They are also considerably stronger than Humans.
Amphibians have been observed to emerge from "capsules" made of a hard yet porous cellular structure. Said "capsules" can be found frozen inside automated spaceships, whose purpose seems to be to transport the Amphibians to the oceans of other planets. It's not known whether the "capsules" are eggs, or something more akin to cocoons or a state of cryptobiosis. When exposed to heat, the "capsules" start growing by unknown means, although it's been speculated that they might be consuming air or even heat. They also emit ultrasonic waves before hatching.
A man who's been scratched by the claws of an Amphibian died from contracting an unknown disease. It's not known whether all Amphibians carry such pathogens and whether it affects them as well. It's been tentatively suggested that the Amphibians might have left their homeworld to escape from a kind of plague, although whether this is true or not remains unclear.
Culture and society[]
Amphibians make use of automated saucer-shaped spacecraft that can also operate underwater. Since no communication has been established with this species, it remains unknown why they came to Earth and why they attack Humans unprovoked. However, it's been speculated that land-based species might be their natural enemies.
