The Alphauri (알파우리) are a species from a binary system with a planet of the same name in a distant galaxy.
Biology[]
Alphauri resembled amobea-like creatures with three eyes. The species dwelled on a world that was mostly covered in water, and they lived in depths where starlight rarely reached the dark and bluish waters.
They are powerful users of magic, having evolved on a world that is filled with it. For the Alphauri, fuel used for magic is classified into “external magic” and “internal magic.” External magic moves mana from the external environment. While internal magic circulates inside the body.
How Alphauri achieve this is by using the respiratory system, a clear set of lungs manages the circulation of mana, enabling their wizards to combine smalls amount of internal mana with external mana to form a complex spells. If there is congestion magic cannot function properly.
And due to technological developments, they don't need sleep. Another thing was that members of the species were unable to harm their own kind. Even suicide was impossible due to their magic technology placing safeguards.
Culture[]
The Alphauri are a culture that have refined using magic to a point where they created a superior magically driven civilization. Although they have yet to explore other worlds and encounter intelligent life, though have theorized the possibility of beings similar to themselves and capable of using magic.
Alphauri are beings who have a culture where work is treated as a kind of community service, to the point of working to death. Standard hours of work go from 640 days a year without a holiday.
Resignation is a high-ranking post is unheard of. The reason being high-ranking members of the Alphauri placed restrictions on their workers so that they couldn't run away from their work. If members use teleportation magic, individuals get an electric shock in their brains. Even if they succeeded in leaving the workplace there was no place to hide because all parts of the planet are already in the hands of the rulers.
Technology[]
The application of magic is saturated in the Alphauri's society. To the point that tools are not even used but magic itself was a too used instead.
Magic on Alphauri is considerably less in quantity than it is on Earth, a comparison would be analogous to a pail of water to a pool. However since humanity’s discovery of magic is relatively new, about only seven years since awakeners appeared, though who could wield magic, and only having adapted to a culture of dungeon diving and hunters, their efficiency and refinement of magic is crude inferior to a member of the dominant species of Alphauri, who in contrast have a history of 60,000 years of magic development. The Alphauri are able to distinguish magic on a more fundamental level, not just able to extract magic from magical items, but also common dirt which soaks latent magical energy.
Magic technologies, such as golems which are deemed advanced ancient constructs on Earth are regarded as primitive technology akin to robot vacuum cleaners to the Alphauri. This is no metaphor, as golems are inseparable from Alphauri’s daily life, with the clay dolls powered by mana playing infinite roles. The planet was Alphauri was truly a world built on the labor of golems. From housework, running errands for their masters, construction, conversation, and even in unmanned warfare.
Despite all their magic technology, the one aspect in life that the species had yet to fully understand was the soul, as no one so far had interpret it. So far there is only known example where the soul was successful manipulated. In that the soul of an Alphauri was able to escape the confines of its body and reincarnate to another body on another planet.
