An Alpha Splinter is a Splinter soldier that leads a Splinter pack. Alphas are generally the largest and strongest male in the pack. It primarily attacks by the usual method of tackling.
Darkling Possession[]
When possessed by a Darkling, the Alpha Splinter's combat prowess is increased exponentially, as true with all Darkling-possessed creatures. It becomes tougher and has gained the ability to fire blasts of dark energy.

- Only one Alpha Splinter appeared in Metroid Prime 2: Echoes, and it was found with several Dark Splinters in the Great Temple. It was possessed by the Ing that stole the Energy Transfer Module, which Samus obtained after killing the Splinter.
