Alien Species

This unnamed humanoid species inhabited an unnamed asteroid in the Sol System, possibly Asteroid 328, where they toiled away in monotonous lives under The Businessman, who ruled the entire planetoid with a corporation known as BMCO.

Biology[]

Members of this species are externally nearly identical to Humans, but are notably taller and considerably gaunt, also bearing a paler skin tone.

Culture and society[]

Under the rule of The Businessman, every member of this species was an employee for BMCO, who placed them in a utilitarian society, where the only people and objects allowed to exist were those that were deemed "essential" to the operation of BMCO. Said essential things were working adults and any object which could in some way contribute to workplace productivity, where every non-essential object was to be converted into something essential. Every member of this species was conditioned to be entirely dedicated to their jobs, mechanically and wordlessly working their lives away. Additionally, all children were deemed non-essential in the alien society, and thus, all childhood memories were wiped away from the aliens as any alien children were forcefully made into workaholic adults. Due to this, the aliens appear frightened and confused by the presence of children, with their first reactions being wondering why a child is so small. The most important part of the conditioning process is a book that supposedly holds everything essential to BMCO, and propaganda posters can be found throughout alien cities, all repeating BMCO's motto of being essential.

The general architecture, aesthetic, and clothing of this species are identical to that of the 21st century Western world, with their language being identical to English, although the only clothing worn by this species consists of business suits and other work uniforms, varying on their job, with suits and coats worn by office workers while hard hats and safety vests are given to manual workers and machinery operators. Additionally, this species appears to possess only one police officer on their asteroid, also an employee of BMCO, who wore a black suit with a shako-like hat with a metal badge on its front bearing the BMCO logo. Due to their workaholic attitudes, the aliens often display emotionless behaviors, often not noticing anything out of the ordinary unless it actively interrupts them, as seen when almost every alien ignored a biplane flying over their streets until it landed in the middle of an intersection. However, they are known to applaud in approval when someone restores order, or to humor The Businessman. The aliens do not pursue space travel or contact with the nearby inhabited world of Earth.

Technology[]

Alien technology appears mostly identical to common 20th century Earth technology, such as typewriters, generic automobiles, and basic city infrastructure. However, they also have some incredibly advanced technology, mostly in their power grids, capable of shrinking down stars, safely containing them in a massive glass container, and using their energy to power their asteroid. Another example of advanced alien technology are massive industrial metal shredders, capable of shredding even large vehicles and converting their material into paperclips. Additionally, a notable piece of advanced technology used in the BMCO conditioning process takes the form of a massive chamber filled with white light and many mechanical arms, which ages children into adults while conditioning their minds to becoming subservient to BMCO, erasing all memories of the victim's childhood, capable of working on both aliens and Humans. The system is operated by a series of levers, and straps the victim to a desk, while mechanical arms force the victim to sign various legal documents and flip through the BMCO guidebook on all that is essential.

History[]

At some point in the past, between the 1950's and the early 21st century, a alien humanoid known as The Businessman created a corporation known as BMCO, taking over the home asteroid of this species and forcing them all to become BMCO's employees. The corporation implemented a utilitarian society, forcing monotonous routines on the aliens while purging anything "non-essential" from the species, such as childhood memories and any object not meant for working or productivity, even using a facility designated as an "Academy" to forcefully mold alien children into workaholic adults. BMCO somehow started capturing 501,622,731 stars from the Orion-Cygnus Arm, shrinking them down and using them for power. Additionally, The Businessman also managed to capture a child-like humanoid from Asteroid B 612, known as The Little Prince, and forced him through the Academy, making the prince into an anxious and bumbling amnesiac adult named Mr. Prince. Unlike the other aliens, the prince kept some of his child-like innocence, and did not have the same emotionless attitude as the other aliens, being fired from several jobs until he was eventually employed as a janitor. Additionally, BMCO also employed other alien humanoids the prince had previously met, such as The Conceited Man, a narcissistic humanoid who was employed as a company police officer, and The King, an elderly humanoid with delusions of grandeur who was employed as an elevator operator.

In the early 21st century, a young girl from Earth traveled to the aliens' homeworld, using a space-worthy biplane and accompanied by a conscious stuffed toy of a fox. The Little Girl and the Fox flew over the streets of the asteroid, unnoticed by all the aliens, except for one that was startled by the plane and crashed his car into a lamppost. The other aliens finally noticed the Little Girl when she landed the plane in the middle of an intersection. The aliens crowded around the plane in confusion, until The Conceited Man arrived, repeatedly running his car into lampposts until he reached the Little Girl. The aliens stood by as The Conceited Man wrote up citations on the girl, until The Conceited Man asked why the Little Girl was so small, to which the Little Girl answered that she was a child, frightening all the aliens. The Conceited Man declared that he would be taking the Little Girl away, making the other aliens clap in approval, but this triggered The Conceited Man's psychological urge to tip his hat when applauded, allowing the Little Girl and the Fox to escape. Other aliens didn't notice the Little Girl or the Fox as they traveled the streets looking for The Little Prince, eventually finding the BMCO central office, where they had seen the adult form of the prince. They entered an elevator full of aliens, who paid them no attention, managing to reach the top floor by reminding the operator, The King, of his past.

Eventually, the Little Girl and the Fox found Mr. Prince, who still did not remember his past and brought the pair to the Academy, believing the BMCO personnel could help them. The head of the Academy, the Teacher, brought the Little Girl straight to the facility's growing up machine, showing her that non-essential items were converted into paperclips, as other aliens brought the biplane to be converted as well. The Teacher began to put the Little Girl through the machine, also throwing the Fox and the girl's collection of pages of the prince's story into a trash can, deeming the story to be "proof of childhood" and thus non-essential, but the Fox managed to escape and free the girl from the desk she was strapped to with a paperclip. As the Teacher attempted to get the girl back into the desk, Mr. Prince, remembering some of his past upon recognizing a drawing of a sheep in a box within the story pages, used the machine's controls to send the Teacher into the machine instead. The trio then attempted to escape the facility and retrieve the biplane, but they were confronted by The Businessman, The Conceited Man, and a group of alien BMCO executives. The Businessman explained how he has finally captured the stars and turned them into something "essential," as the other aliens laughed and applauded on cue. However, the Businessman and all the aliens were caught off-guard when the Mr. Prince abruptly quit BMCO, as the Little Girl used a bowling ball to knock out the alien operator of the shredder, managing to disable it and save the biplane.

Mr. Prince, the Little Girl, and the Fox then ran up mounds of non-essential items to reach the biplane, still suspended by a crane, while chased by The Businessman, The Conceited Man, and the aliens. However, the trio made it to the plane and got it run, escaping the aliens and breaking the star containment tank, allowing all the stars to burst out of the facility and return to space, depowering the entire asteroid as the biplane rode the stars to reach B 612. The aliens still on the streets all saw the stars for the first time, awed by the sight. Without the stars to power BMCO, the corporation presumably dissolved and allowed the aliens to leave their monotonous routines.

Appearances[]

  • The Little Prince (2015)

Notes[]

  • It is unclear if The Businessman, The King, The Conceited Man, The Little Prince, or any of the other aliens from the original story are members of this species. If they are, then the lifespan of this species is far longer than that of Humans, as all the aliens from the original story were shown to not visibly age after several decades.
