This article is about the sentient alien race featured in SIGNS,

SIGNS

The aliens themselves are first encountered in the film during a news broadcast. They are then seen in person by the main leader at his associates who is injured and trapped in the pantry. The lead then cuts it's fingers off in retaliation when the creature shoves it fingers under the door.because of this the lead returns home to ask his family, do they want to stay at home(and hide) or go to the nearest river(Because the injured man mentioned the are afraid of water.

The alien invasion starts.some aliens arrive(by means of unknown transportation.And come out of the crop field.They attack the house,Which had been barricaded earlier by the family who have hidden in the basement.one alien grabs the main leads son through a coal shaft,in the chaos the light is smashed.The creature is repelled but the child has an Asthma attack,the family survive 2 days in the basement they leave after they hear the military has found away the force them off the planet.

when the leave the enter the living room the lead goes to find his son inhaler as his brother and daughter get the TV as they pull it in they notice the reflection...One was in the house all along and had taken the son hostage, who then attacks the alien with his trophy bat (which was mounted on the wall).He discovers that the aliens are almost allergic to water he smashes a cup of water over it the water burns it's skin.The alien is then killed and the father saves his son.

The reason the aliens arrive on earth is never told in the film.
The species seems to react negitively towards water
Although they have advanced space flight technology their weaponry and armory don't seem as advanced as their transportation systems.
