The Akrennians are a sapient species whose appearance is reminiscent of a lean humanoid flying fox. They have no wings, but do possess a transparent atrophied membrane under their arms, which may suggest a flight-capable ascendance. Akrennians hailed from a planet called p’lochda in the Ak’da system which is a slave markets and trading territory. According to Preed, members of this species don't dream. It is also implied that Akrennians do not bathe, but it is not known if this was simply a snide comment made by Akima towards Preed or also a fact. In addition, Akrennian traders always threaten before asking a favor, as it is tradition, which Preed neglects to remember when he, Korso and Stith disguise themselves to get into the slave cages to save Akima.
